CREW: Where are the rest of records we were promised of White House visits by Jack Abramoff?
Nearly three months ago the Secret Service, through its Department of Justice lawyers, told the court in two pending cases that it had “recently discovered information” relevant to CREW’s Freedom of Information Act request for records of visits by Jack Abramoff to the White House that it intended to file with the court.
Just yesterday CREW learned from another source that additional Secret Service records of at least two meetings President Bush had with Jack Abramoff have yet to be produced. So just where are these promised Secret Service records -- records, by the way, that would contradict the White House’s repeated claims that but for large social gatherings, President Bush never met with Mr. Abramoff? When pressed for an answer, a Department of Justice lawyer refused to say anything, apparently forgetting the very representations he had made months earlier to the court.
Last night, CREW filed a motion to compel the Secret Service to come forward with these long overdue missing records. Stay tuned for exactly what arguments the Secret Service offers in response, including the convenient defense, manufactured in another case CREW has against the Secret Service, that White House visitor records are no longer Secret Service agency records, but belong exclusively to the White House and are therefore beyond public reach.

Of course, Rove was Bush's right hand and through Susan Ralston Abramoff had full access to Rove which then gave him full access to Bush. Now we're learning that the full access actually was realized and not just a possibility. Abramoff was full of Russian clients. In Russia, no one does business unless they make their mob payoffs to Vladmir Putin's crime gang and carry-out Putin's agenda everywhere in the world. This situation gives half the insight as to how the Bush Administration became so warm to a Russia that became a non-democracy effective 1/1/00 and is run by mafia.
The other half of the picture is how Cheney supported this same pro-Kremlin agenda. 4 San Diego reporters already collaborated and published a book that discussed how Brent Wilkes, Cunningham's coconspirator # 1 worked with Cheney in the early nineties. Of course, it has been put to question what overpriced office and computer equipment Wilkes provided the VP's office in 2002 for the same dollar amount as it cost Wilkes to buy a yacht for Cunningham the month after the alleged contract was filled for the VP's office. Already, Sign on San Diego posted an FBI document obtained under FOIA with a footnote that explains that Cunningham knew he was being bribed by the Russian mafia via his coconspirator # 3, Kontogiannis. It also appeared in print in 8/06 that Wilkes and Foggo were being linked to Russia by US DOJ. Also in that month it was learned US DOJ was focusing on a meeting Cunningham, Wilkes, Foggo and Russian biz execs had with Cheney in 1/02.
Last spring the Administration reversed course with the Kremlin when it decided to install a missile defense system to protect western Europe in Poland and Czechoslovakia. The Administration never explained its changed opinion of Russia and the press didn't ask why. Putin began pouting! Putin has continued to pout and nearly every week at least one pout is revealed in our press. Last week the pouting was a claim the US is interfering with Russian politics, although Putin didn't explain how.
Could it be that the Administration learned as a result of Kontogiannis' 2/06 plea deal kept secret until last June involving the JTTF (Joint Terrorism Task Force), that the FSB/FSS (former KGB) that Putin controlled as of 6/98 and when he became president in 2000, too controlled the MVD (Russian military intelligence), had members who trained the 911 hijackers? Trained them providing them military and intelligence training of how to bypass our security protocols? Have continued to finance homegrown terror cells in western democracies and train terror cell members?
Putin was in a violent street gang before the KGB even recruited him. 7 years before he came to control the FSS, he had a formal mission to kill every American and person residing within a democracy. The frame of mind of such people isn't changed that quickly in 7 years! Abramoff's character showed $ signs were far more important to him than the motivations of his customers.
Of course the President doesn't want anyone to know Abramoff had such extensive access to him, but it doesn't mean he'll be further covering it up now that Rove who was behind the covering-up is gone! This is a president who admits mistakes and his changed policy toward Putin already shows an admission of guilt and resolve to change course and steer policy in a riteous direction. The president was made a fool by one of his most trusted advisors: Karl Rove. Not only did the president make a campaign promise to end public corruption and reduce the size of the federal government, but he's added hundreds of FBI agents to investigate public corruption starting in 2001 when 911 happened, only to discover Rove undermined the president's own efforts to reduce the size of government and end public corruption. Even worse, Rove's actions were to engage in public corruption that favored our own attackers!
Just as the president changed course with Putin, he did the same when he cut Rove--a friend of 30 years loose. In fact, the book he told Rove he had to write while kicking-up his feet contemplating what he wanted to do with the rest of his life I interpret to be a demand that Rove write his confessional.
CREW SHOULD HAVE NOTICED THAT DOJ LAWYERS FOR THE SECRET SERVICE 3 MONTHS AGO BEGAN TO SHOW THE FIRST SIGNS OF COOPERATING WITH CREW'S FOIA REQUEST, AND THAT THIS WAS ONCE ROVE WAS GONE! ROVE RESIGNED 8/13/07! IT IS VERY UNLIKELY THIS IS A COINCIDENCE! IT APPEARS ROVE WAS WHO WAS IMPEDING THE SECRET SERVICE FROM COMPLYING WITH THE FOIA REQUEST!
