20 Dec 2007 // Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Coast Guard, seeking documents relating to the award and administration of a 2003 Deepwater modernization program contract for marine patrol aircraft.

As detailed in CREW’s report Homeland Security for Sale, see http://www.homelandsecurityforsale.org/report, the Coast Guard Deepwater modernization program as a whole has been criticized for maintaining “poorly defined performance requirements,” “flawed contract terms and conditions,” and “inadequate management and technical oversight.”

CREW has requested documents reflecting the Coast Guard’s specific concerns regarding the contract for EADS-CASA CN-235 marine patrol aircraft.
